Can you stop that comparison?

As we grow, we get to see everything else around us growing too, be it in terms of advancement in technology or competition amongst people, the former being a good thing obviously but the later may sometimes become extremely dangerous as it may lead to comparison. Competition seems to be healthy only when you willingly tend to take part in it solely because you want to do better. We often hear people saying that we are in competition with none but ourselves, that I believe is the best type of competition and the only type that shall actually exist.

Comparison leads to negativity

Sadly, there is much more than that, we often see parents building up unnecessary competition amongst their children by comparing them when they know of the fact that all fingers are not equal. They fail to realize the fact that this comparison ruins the bond, the beautiful bond shared by the siblings. Similarly, teachers compare their students when in fact it must be the exact opposite. I still remember, during my school days, I used to be serious in studies whereas my best friend didn’t really care much until a month was left till exams. I was approached by one of my teachers and was advised to stop sitting with her due to obvious reasons. My friend and I laughed it off but I do know that she felt bad about it and lost interest in her subject. Our teacher was supposed to rather ask me to help my friend where she needs help.

My point here is simple, please stop comparing, you have no idea what the person who is made to feel lower feels like. Comparison can never be good amongst people. It will always give rise to negative feelings, please abstain from it, I once read somewhere that if you want to spoil your relation with somebody, simply start comparing them with others. Appreciate people around you. People are already stressed about a lot of things especially in the times we are dwelling now, be nice, be kind, it won’t cost you a thing but might mean a lot to somebody else. Live and let live.
